At the Millennium Seedbank we assisted architects Stanton Williams with the detailed design for the main external circulation areas including the pool, parterres, paving, steps, ramps, and external walls.

The scheme achieved a close relationship between the building and its setting with the natural characteristics of the site determining the form of many of the external details. In particular we were concerned with the management of surface water run-off, both in terms of protection of the Seedbank and the impact of rainwater flowing from the new building into an adjacent site of Special Scientific Interest. Open stone filled channels replaced gullies and pipework, achieving the drainage requirements while adding the visual richness of the project.
