Churchman were offered the opportunity to undertake the refurbishment of Heston Park in Hounslow in tandem with a wider proposals for adjacent sites which included a new Heston Leisure Centre.

Although consistently popular with locals the existing park was failing to provide for the diversity of local needs and the local authority’s aspirations for Green Flag status for all borough parks. Following extensive consultation Churchman developed a programme of improvements to significantly improve access, diversify site ecology, increase play and leisure opportunities and rejuvenate existing dilapidated facilities.

Landform has been used to define a series of winding routes; a jogging trail with exercise stations and a natural play trail which encloses the park on three sides, providing an imaginative and exploratory route for younger visitors. The sports and leisure facilities have been significantly upgraded with the provision of refurbished basketball and tennis courts, artificial five-a-side pitches and cricket practice nets. Extensive new tree planting and habitat creation has been undertaken including wildflower meadow plantings and grassland management to enhance biodiversity and seasonal interest.
