The landscape response seeks to unify the public realm, providing active play space and a dynamic destination which can be enjoyed by residents and the wider public.
The approach to the landscape is strongly influenced by the distinctive and celebratory visual qualities of the architecture and an associated suspended lattice art work by Bruce Mclean. The scheme is conceived as a faceted plane which is stretched over the site and subdivided into a series of trapezoidal plates, each of which has a subtlely different profile.
The surface topography creates a patchwork of tonal shades onto which the shadows of the suspended lattice will fall. This fractured carpet is highlighted by panels of coloured glass. This surface of landscape is folded down to form lightwells and access ramps into a basement car park, and up to create walls and enclosures.
The massing and elevational form of the two towers provide a strong visual framework for the landscape to follow. A series of sculptured interventions provide opportunities for relaxation and for play.
