Essentially a triangular space overlooked on many levels and bound by three intriguing architectural elevations. The space is interrupted at ground level by the protrusion of a performance space below effectively dividing the available space in two. Our proposal seeks to play with the volumes that define the space, using mirrors and reflecting bodies of water to extend the perspective and sense of space within the courtyard.

The design responds to the short timeframe available by working with existing elements and surface materials and complementing them with new surface finishes. We envisage employing mirrored panels on two sides of the protruding box to extend the perception of space and create optical illusions. A curved bench will appear to extend deep into the space reflected in the mirror wall. Living walls and bamboo groves will also reflect to provide a feeling of enclosure. This achieves a verdant feel to the space whilst preserving valuable floor space for events and daily enjoyment.
